It’s the beginning of October and Summer is over. You know what’s right around the corner, the COLD WEATHER! It’s time to get that Heating System ready to go for the extreme temperatures ahead of us. Make sure your heating system is running at it’s peak efficiency.
Efficiency is a very important term in our industry. The dictionary defines efficiency as, “the state or quality of being efficient or able to accomplish something with the least waste of time and effort; a competence in performance.” Our goal is to provide the most efficient equipment for our clients. We want to make sure our clients have equipment that is always performing at a high level without using too much energy or wasting your $$$$.
There are ways that YOU can keep your equipment running as efficient as possible. Here are some of them:
- Change your filters- You can improve the performance of a forced air system by changing your filters every couple of months. This will help avoid debris from wearing down your unit and help it run more efficient.
- Bleed your Radiators- Start up the boiler and let your heat run. Open the bleeder valve on each radiator and have a bucket/container close by to catch the water. Once the air stops and water starts to come out, close the valve.
- Insulation – Sometimes if your house is poorly insulated, you may experience heat loss. You want to consider adding insulation in your open spaces to prevent warm air from escaping your home. You can also insulate your pipes and ducts to save energy as well. Pipe and Duct Wrapping keeps the warm air circulating in the spaces you want conditioned.
- Use PAC to tune up your unit – Make sure you have all HVAC units serviced periodically by PAC to make sure it runs at the highest possible level. Our Technicians will perform a comprehensive cleaning and check up to make sure everything is good to go before the cold weather hits.
These are just a few ways that you can increase efficiency before the heating system begins.
